Xochimilco Restaurant & Bakery traditional roots stem from the beautiful colonial state of Puebla, Mexico, for which, to this very day, our family is a gastronomy staple of this community. Ricardo since his childhood worked with his family cooking traditional Carnitas in his hometown and Erica learned from her grandmother the secret of making authentic and tasty Mexican dishes.
Xochimilco Bakery started in 1994 when Ricardo and Erica Martinez noticed that all Mexican food in New Jersey was Tex-Mex food, then they decided to create a restaurant where people could eat authentic Mexican food. Thinking beyond that they also noticed there was no “Panaderia” a Mexican bakery in the area, so they combined the idea that became Xochimilco Restaurant & Bakery.
Just the way they learned in their childhood all ingredients are fresh and natural, nothing comes from the can, nothing is frozen. Some of their flagship dishes are: Mole Poblano, Tamales and Pipian Verde. Xochimilco also offers seasonal plates such as: Tortitas de Camaron, Champurrado, Ponche de Frutas and Huazontles, Xochimilco is also well-known for his famous handmade Tortillas!. The pastries are recognized in the area as “The Best Pan Dulce”: Conchitas, Hojaldras, Cuernitos and Elotitos among others and their seasonal breads such as Pan de Muerto & Rosca de Reyes
Xochimilco participates with its community, north and south of the border. supporting the Mexican Consulate in different events at the New Jersey area, as well as developing community projects in his native state of Puebla. Just a way to say thank you for your patronage
